Im using Processing 2.0b8, I can run all the examples included in the Processing distro including all of the shader examples and others which are more graphics intensive. I've also tested the code you adapted on another Mac Book Pro late 2011 with an AMD graphics card running Mountain Lion just to make sure it wasn't my machine (as I haven't upgraded past Snow Leopard) and this also throughs up the runtime exception. This is mighty confusing, what machine are you using? - could this be a Mac specific issue?
